Veteran Technology Strategist to Drive LightBox’s Ongoing Expansion into Broadband Mapping Solutions

Irvine, CA – July 14  LightBox, a leading real estate information and technology platform tackling the nation’s growing digital divide, today announced Bill Price as Vice President of Government Solutions. Price, who joins from the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA), developed and implemented the most granular state-level broadband map in the country for Georgia. In this new role, he will lead LightBox’s effort to increase digital equity through better broadband mapping.

As Senior Strategist for the GTA, Price partnered with LightBox in the development of the Georgia broadband map, resulting in an unrivaled, complete, and accurate map of every address in the state, including rural areas, to target and fund broadband for communities that need it most. As the leader of LightBox’s government relations division, Price will work to replicate and scale this strategy both nationally and state-by-state.

“The pandemic both illuminated and compounded the problems of broadband access in the U.S. But true digital equity is more than just running fiber lines,” said LightBox COO Albert Lojko. “Rather, it requires a holistic assessment of accessibility, affordability, and speed. Bill’s proven success, coupled with LightBox’s unparalleled expertise in GIS, data ingestion, modeling and delivery, makes us uniquely qualified to manage the inherent challenges in dealing with accuracy, completeness, and consistency issues in the underlying data required as we work to expand broadband access.”

LightBox has been collecting, curating, relating, and standardizing thousands of authoritative datasets for the past two decades to deliver location accuracy and context. LightBox is uniquely qualified to deliver the rich, highly exact location fabric needed to finally understand broadband access nationwide and at the unit level. With the ability to layer in a view of adoption, speed, and affordability for all broadband-related programs, their solution will arm communities with the information they need to efficiently and effectively target resources.

“We simply couldn’t have built the master location database for broadband maps in Georgia without LightBox’s unparalleled data solutions,” Price said. “I’ve been so impressed by LightBox’s capabilities and deep technical knowledge, and I am thrilled to be joining a team committed to developing effective public-private partnerships and helping communities across the country better understand and improve broadband access.”

Price brings to LightBox his extensive experience with internet service providers and his deep relationships across state and local governments. From 2012-2015, he served as director of the digital programs for the State of Georgia, working with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, the Federal Communications Commission, ISPs, and public sector stakeholders to expand broadband services and increase adoption. Citizens, businesses, and the public sector were able to participate in and benefit from the digital economy.
